Notes from the Desk of the President
September 21, 2008

Dear ARC Membership,

First, let me say thank you for sharing your concerns with the ARC Board on various topics in recent weeks. In regard to questions about motions this Board has consulted with AKC specifically concerning the By-Law, Article III, Section 4, Paragraph 2 in relation to the ARC Treasurer position.

The ARC Board has asked for input on the validity of motions prior to voting , from the ARC Parliamentarian.

Both the AKC Club Relations and ARC Parliamentarian have been supportive in the ARC Board's methodologies, motions and By-Law interpretations and have not found fault in the actions or results of motions made by the ARC Board.

With any issue, emotions and alliances will be tested. The Board has never forgotten our primary goal of protecting our Rottweiler. (Article I, Section 2, a – h.) In order to give our full attention to making our breed safe, healthy, and sustainable, we need to have a fully dedicated Board to operate and succeed in this goal.

Difference will always be a part of any organization small or large; however, participation, contribution, dedication and willingness to work within the parameters of club rules, are what make up for any dissimilarity of ideology.

Information is placed onto the ARC website for all members to read and follow up with questions, as needed. The ARC Board welcomes the ability to further communicate with those members. All internal Board discussions should be considered confidential per our By-Laws and Standing Rules and are not to be disseminated for general membership use. The reason for this is to allow for earnest dialog among Board members. This is nothing new for the ARC Board . Past officers and directors have operated under these same guidelines . All motions have been given serious thought, healthy discussion with pro and con views. Each vote is important to the inviolability of the club. Participation is a requirement of every Board member. Without these two primary duties of each Board member, business can not be conducted.

In conclusion, I do want to reassure you that the ARC Board has been working on many issues. We have activated the ARC Disaster Committee due to the recent Hurricanes, have formed new working committees for SAR, Finance, and have conducted day to day business of approvals for show, new Judges applications, new member applications, events, and member requests and committee requests.

Speaking of the Disaster Relief Committee, some members have raised questions concerning the status of the Katrina Fund. There are no and never have been outstanding issues on this fund. Every penny of donated money was accounted for and reported in the ARK. Even after the reports, the ARC Board and Treasurer had access to every deposit statement and check for payment. The Katrina Disaster Fund was accurately accounted and was one of the most successful rescue operations ever conducted by the ARC........one for which ARC can be proud as a Club.

The Legislative Committee has been reformed and is working to recreate deleted data from the Paws4Laws website to make this once again a useful site for anyone needing help with legislative issues affecting our wonderful dogs.

Please feel free to contact us should you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

Gwen
