Notes from the Desk of the President
October 23, 2008
Dear ARC Membership,
In Indiana, the Fall colors are at their height, we have had our first
frost. We are on the brink of a new season. There is something very
soothing about the progression of our seasons.
Thank goodness for the continuity of our seasons, because I had no
idea when I opened the discussions of Budget and Ledgers that I was
unleashing what you, the membership can only surmise from our published
motions and minutes as a flurry of activity. The requests were made
for items which our By-Laws indicate are necessary for the responsible
maintenance of the ARC.
I can only say to you, that the Board is working diligently on living
up to each of our pledges of fiscal responsibility, support our AKC/ARC
Breed Standard, fight against BSL in all of its forms, and maintain
transparency to you, the membership.
We have adhered to our Constitution, By-Laws, Standing Rules, and last
but not least Robert's Rules of Order. Without these documents and the
upholding of their contents there would be chaos. Frankly, I have been
shocked by the suggestions and the people who have made these suggestions
that this Board should ignore sections of the By-Laws.
There have been accusatory letters from a few members, which I, as
the voice of the Board, have responded to individually after much Board
discussion. You are now aware that future letters and my responses will
be published per the announcement on the website and ARK. Up to now,
letters were not published because when asked, the authors refused publication
to the membership. I know CHAT Yahoo Group members have voiced their
disapproval concerning motions and actions taken by the Board, but there
will not be responses from me via their Yahoo venue. All Board actions
have been after consultation with our Club's licensed parliamentarian.
Come to the Board and we will respond to you.
I know that all of you want answers to all of your questions and believe
me when I say , when I have them you will have them. I remain dedicated
to The Rottweiler, the AKC/ARC Breed Standard, and to you the ARC membership.
Gwen
