Unanimous PASSED

1. 2009 National – Lori Fiandra provided an update to the Board on the 2009 National. The details of agility, herding and tracking are still being finalized, but she states that AKC has been very helpful and will soon approve the show. Vice President Shaver reported that a disaster plan is still needed for tracking. National is being supported in one way or another by the three other California Clubs, GSRC, ARF, and DROC. ARC 2009 National entry closing is Thursday April 2, 2009.

Secretary Shibley will work with Diane Garnett to get prints donated by Sue Witt into the premium list as trophies. Garnett will contact Cindy Earich to have the ARC 4th and 5th Pictorials shipped to Member Glynn who will transport to the show and will be used as trophies.

2. December Delegates Meeting - Peter Piusz gave a full report to the Board on the AKC Delegates Meeting held at the December AKC/Eukanuba shows in Long Beach.

AKC Group Realignment Plan has accepted plan and is awaiting member club comments which are due January 15, 2009. Member Castro expressed concern as to increased cost and time involved if more groups are added. President Chaney will draft letter to provide AKC with ARC’s input on this issue.

AVMA(Dock/Crop) – listed on schedule of events at the delegate meeting for the first time. About ½ of the parent club meeting was devoted to crop/dock. The regular Crop/Dock meeting had approximately 70 people attend including those who are opposed to allowing crop/docking. All in attendance were Delegates.

The Kennel Club has lost the TV contract for Crufts, because the BBC demanded breeds be banned from BOB competition including Mastiffs and Rottweilers. List of dogs to be banned appeared to be based on a documentary showing problems with inbreeding resulting in Crufts not being broadcast due to public concern that the TKC is not interested in the welfare for dogs.

Heartland Auctions – New AKC General Counsel, Margaret Poindexter has begun offering certificates of inspection and now Heartland Auction is using AKC Certificates to promote the Auction.

Ringside Mentoring – AKC provided information on its new ringside mentoring policy.

Delegates Forum – 7 candidates for 2 positions. Delegate Piusz would like to see parent club delegates instead of all breed club Delegates fill these spots.

Next Year Eukanuba will offer specialties in conjunction with Eukanuba which will allow more dogs to attend. Delegate Piusz will find out more.

Carting Group gave a great presentation in efforts to promote AKC carting events. Delegate Piusz expressed his hopes to have a Rottweiler participate next year.

3. National Contract Revisions – Discussion held regarding revisions to the ARC National Contract.

4. ARC National 2013 and 2014 – ARC Board is still discussing possibility of hosting either the 2013 or 2014 National at Purina Farms. The Board will decide once the National Contracts for 2011 and 2012 are signed. This item was tabled until the details of 2011 and 2012 are finalized.

5. Additional Items/Reports
Legislative Committee Chairman Shaver gave update on Legislative Committee work which includes recreating information for paws4laws website. Shaver will look into return of the ARC scanner which is to be used by the Legislative Committee.

Treasurer Piusz reported that she will be sending information to ARC tax preparer soon.
