About The American Rottweiler Club

The American Rottweiler Club was established in 1973, and is a member club of the American Kennel Club. Membership is world-wide, although concentrated in the U.S., and is currently in excess of 1,200. The stated objectives of the club are:

To encourage and promote the quality breeding of pure-bred Rottweilers and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.

To encourage the organization of independent local Rottweiler Specialty Clubs in those locations where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed to meet the requirements of the American Kennel Club

To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by The American Rottweiler Club as the only standard of excellence by which Rottweilers shall be judged.

To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, and tracking trials. To conduct sanctioned matches and specialty shows, obedience trials, and tracking trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club.

All members are required to abide by the club's Mandatory Practices.

The club, through its members, is involved in all facets of Rottweiler ownership and exhibition. Public education is a priority, and several committees contribute to this important goal of the club.

The Rottweiler Health Committee keeps members informed of problems and progress in health issues facing our breed. A quarterly newsletter, The ARK, is published and keeps members up to date with show results, production awards and club events.
