Applying to be a Listed Club

To be added to the ARC Local and Area Rottweiler Club list, clubs must apply to and receive approval from the ARC Board of Directors. Application requires a copy of the club’s bylaws and a membership list current as of the time of application. The applicant club’s bylaws must agree to accept the AKC Rottweiler Standard of the Breed as the only standard by which Rottweilers shall be judged in any events they may sponsor. Application should be made through the ARC Club Liaison (see sidebar).

What are the Benefits of Being a Listed “Local and Area Rottweiler Club”?

  1. Listed clubs are eligible to apply to host ARC National and/or Regional Specialties and other ARC events.
  2. Listed clubs will receive one complimentary copy of each issue of the ARC quarterly newsletter, the ARK. The ARK will be sent to the listed club’s newsletter editor, or to the Secretary.
  3. Listed clubs will receive one free page of advertising in the ARK each calendar year. Additional advertising in the ARK is offered at a 25% discount over normal rates as published in the ARK. Clubs must be current on their club information (officers, membership list) with the ARC Database Chairperson to take advantage of this offer. If a listed club holds an ARC Regional event, the club will receive, in addition to their annual free page, a free page of advertising for the event.
  4. Listed clubs may list their events on the ARC Event Calendar.
  5. An ARC Certificate of Recognition will be presented to listed clubs who have submitted letters to the Board of Directors outlining their achievements during the preceding year. Certificates are presented each year at the Annual Awards Banquet.
  6. Listed clubs will be eligible to purchase copies of the ARC Illustrated Standard of The Rottweiler at a cost of $10 each (with minimum purchase of 25 copies).

Legislative Updates Tailored to the Club’s Area

Listed clubs will be asked to appoint a Legislative Liaison. The appointed person will be contacted by the American Rottweiler Club Legislative Committee whenever a situation arises in the listed club’s area, ensuring club members are aware of local legislation that may affect the fancy. If the club does not have an appointed Legislative Liaison, the listed club’s Secretary will be the contact person.

Keeping Your Club’s Information Up to Date

The ARC Club Liaison will annually request an update of the listed club’s information. The update will include the names, addresses, telephone, e-mail address of the club President, Secretary, newsletter Editor and Legislative Liaison, as well as a current membership list. (If a club is an AKC-licensed club, they will not be required to provide a membership list.)

Failure to reply to the request for updates within two months of the request will subject the club to removal from the list, as well as jeopardize the club’s ability to be approved to hold an ARC National and/or Regional Specialty or other ARC events.

Listed clubs may update their officer and director information at any time by contacting the Club Liaison (see sidebar).
